Al shabaab bans selling meat in southern Somalia town

AFGOYE  Al shabaab movement on Monday imposed a ban on slaughtering and selling the meat of domestic animals in Afgoye town, about 30 kilometers south of Mogadishu, the capital of war-decimated horn of Africa nation.

The ban was imposed all kinds of meats, including the camels, cows, goats and sheep, according the meat traders in the town. A trader, how asked for anonymity, told Shabelle Media Network that the ban on meat had immediately have bad impacts on the traders and consumers in the area. He said that Al shabaab told the people of Afgoye the domestic animals were slaughtered after they had died. No comments about the ban were immediately available from the group.
 
Police arrests over 7 persons in Mogadishu security crackdown

9253-full-enMOGADISHU - The police forces of Somali interim government on Monday conducted security crackdowns in parts of the capital, arresting more than 7 persons, an official said.

Abdullahi Hassan Barise, the spokesman of Somali police told Shabelle radio that the operations took place in the districts of Hamarweyne, Waberi and also KM4 junction of Hodan district. Barise said some of them were captured while sniffing alcoholic glue from old tins near KM4 intersection. They are street boys, he noted. He added that armed there men dressed in government soldiers’ uniform were also captured in today’s security crackdown in an attempt to limit the repetitive insecurity activities in government controlled areas of Mogadishu. The police spokesman said investigations on captured armed men are underway and details will be released later
 
Al shabaab confiscates clan owned weapons, battle vehicles

kamaal12DINSOR  – The administration of Al shabaab in Bay and Bakool regions Wednesday forcibly confiscated battle vehicles and weapons including rifle and RBG guns which are owned by local clan after operations in Dinsor district of Bay region in southern Somalia.

 

Reports emanating form the region suggested the guns were discovered in great holes. During their operations in the district of Dinsor, the Al shabaab fighters seized about 20 battle wagons. In the past, the group ordered all local tribes to hand over their weapons to them as they are in combat with Somali government backed by AMISOM forces despite some clans opposed the order.  Al shabaab has not released any comments about the move so far.

Somali govt soldiers clash at the presidency in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (Sh. M. Network) – Somalia government forces on Tuesday morning clashed at Mogadishu’s Villa Somalia, where at least two soldiers were killed and several others injured. A government military officer was among those killed in the brief armed confrontation, according to witnesses.

Some of the soldiers who have been involved in the clash were from Somali president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed while the others were loyal to parliament speaker Sharif Hassab Sheikh Adam.  The clash flared up shortly after two soldiers disputed, witnesses said, adding that they could hear heavy and light weapons during the clash.  No comments were immediately available from government officials about the incident.
