Network) – The Drought Committee of Shabelle Media Network on Sunday delivered humanitarian aid from Somali community in Seattle in the U.S. to the drought displaced Somalis in Mogadishu. The aid which was consisted of plastic sheets was intended for IDPs to hide themselves from the rains, cool and the sunshine.
Having donated about 280 plastic sheets to the IDPs in Hodan district of Mogadishu, they could be seen immediately building their huts which were made of acacia branches twisted into a dome shape and covered with ragged cloths and rice sacks, according to the committee. Ahmed Nurre Owdini, the chairman of Shabelle Drought Committee today’s humanitarian assistance from Somali people who failed to endure the hardship the drought people are facing. He called upon the Somalis to continue supporting their brothers and sisters in Somalia, Mogadishu in particular. The IDPs welcomed cordially the move saying they had been subject to the cool and rains during in the night and day as well as sunshine. The aid was the origin of $ 3,350 which Somali community in Seattle fundraised and collected each other to assist their brothers and in sisters affected harshly by the drought. |
